Memories. Tricky, slippery things. Sometimes pleasant but very often, for those of us who are survivors, painful, confusing, and intrusive.
How can we manage them so that they do not control our lives? That’s what we’ll focus on this month: Looking at tips and techniques to manage memories. Of course we’ll only scratch the surface; we can’t cover everything but we’ll at least start opening the door.
Here’s the first thing that I want to say. Please know that we can manage painful memories. We are able to exercise control. We don’t have to be overwhelmed by them, we don’t have to run or hide from them, and we don’t have to lie down and let them roll over us. It requires time, effort, and practice, but we can do it.
