Please be encouraged as you work to manage memories. Your skills will get stronger as you use them, and you will gain the capacity to gradually work through painful memories as they surface from time to time. It won’t always be hard.
Maybe consider writing down good memories, so you have something to read when you’re struggling? As a survivor, I sometimes find it hard to hold on to happy memories; the scary and painful ones often crowd out the good ones. But if I have a list, with details, of times that were especially pleasant, I can make it a point to look at that list and linger over the happiness that comes back.
Please know that we all have ups and downs; the hard times don’t last. Know, also, that God is with us through them all.
