Finally, it’s important to bear witness to others. When we tell people some of what God has done for us, when we proclaim aloud the Lord’s wonderful works, it can encourage others and it can encourage us too.

In the church where I grew up, there was always time set aside for testimonies during the Friday and Sunday night services. Anyone could stand right where they were and give glory to God for a victory, or ask for prayer for a struggle. This was not bragging because the focus was on the Lord’s activity in our lives. It strengthened the one who spoke and the ones who heard.

I have to add here that we should be careful not to carelessly tell our full story to everyone. Some people may be overwhelmed by hearing it and others may not be entirely trustworthy.

But we can always say, with joy and gratitude, that God is the one who has brought us this far. We can bear witness to the Lord’s miraculous work in our lives.
