Short messages of spiritual support for adult survivors of child sexual abuse

February 2026, Higher Love #4

How does God show love for us? What is the proof that God really does love us?

It’s not what we often think. “If God really loved me, I’d have an easier life.” Or, “If God loved me, bad things would not have happened to me.” Or, “God will show love to me by answering all my prayers with YES.

No, God shows love to us by enabling us to have what’s ultimately best for us. Our Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer make it possible for us to walk in relationship with them. They give us ways to overcome sin and death in every form. They ensure that, in the long run, evil will not win.

Yes, we’ve struggled through trauma and we bear its scars. But by the grace of God the trauma does not define us—we are much more than our abuse—and it does not have to limit us. People did evil things to us but God has promised to turn those things to good, through renewed miracles of creation, because God loves us. And that love will never change.
