Courage means not giving up, even though we may often feel like quitting. And there are often many reasons to quit: Maybe the pain is too much. Maybe change is taking too long. Maybe we’re not getting the support we need from people around us. Maybe disappointment is overwhelming, fear is constant, the future appears dark…Let’s acknowledge those feelings in prayer, because they are real and understandable.

And then let’s keep going, reminding ourselves that God is on our side and that the trauma we endured as children, years ago, will not have the last word. With God’s help, we will be more than conquerors (Romans 8:37).

To me that means we do not have to be afraid of the next battle because we know that God is with us. So we can keep pressing on.
